The Berkshire County Retirement Board voted unanimously on April 24th to grant retirees the maximum allowable Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA). The maximum COLA allowed by law for retirees of the Berkshire County Retirement System is 3% of the first $16,000 of retirement benefits, or $480.00 per year. This increase will take effect on July 1.
Our office is open for required in-person transactions. Appointments are highly encouraged by contacting the office at 413-499-1981.

We're here for you.

Welcome to the Berkshire County Retirement System. We have been proudly serving the retirement needs of Berkshire County's hard working municipal employees since 1937.

We serve more than 2,000 active and retired Berkshire County Retirement System members.

Commonwealth of Massachusetts public employees are not covered under Social Security. Instead they are covered by a Contributory Retirement System, which we administer on their behalf, or an OBRA plan.

This website is designed to be an informative and useful resource for:

  • Active Members - Current Berkshire County Municipal Employees

  • Retirees - Retired Berkshire County Municipal Employees

  • Treasurers & Employers - Those who oversee payrolls and benefits for Berkshire County  Municipal Employees
